Crazy… There is VERY LIMITED news coverage on the 2015 MILLION MAN MARCH #JusticeOrElse that took place in the nation’s capital this weekend Washington, DC. This marks the 20th Anniversary of the 1st Million Man March when Louis Farrakhan summoned one million men because of the issues Black men dealt with.
At the time of the march, Black men dealt with a lot of hardships, ranging from a society still very much influence by the Jim Crow south and the post-slavery prejudice that ran rampant in the early 20th century. Now, fast forward to 2015, and Black on Black crime is at an all time high, and police killings are happening at a record pace around the country.
Will the nation hear “our” cry?…. & what really gets me is how BIG the 1st Million Man March was… I was only 11 at the time. But I can remember EVERYBODY talking about it. Every black man old enough was trying to get to Washington. DC for that march! It was on all the major news networks. With social media & the internet (BET, CNN, BET, FOX, BET, BET, BET………. ) you would think they should have a lot more coverage. There have been reports of people’s videos getting taken off You Tube. But as soon as a riot breaks out, or anything they consider uncivil breaks out, you will have every news media outlet present. It’s just not right!!! They try (and successfully) paint this horrible picture of us as a whole race.
SO I wanted to post a few videos I found… Hopefully they don’t get deleted. If you find any good clips, please send me the link for the video. You can paste it in the comments.
Honestly… We are fighting for police brutality justice, but what about black on black crime? What can we do as a country to come together??? It starts at home. Its a ripple effect…. Blog with me
