Expungement Day in Akron: When it comes to turning your life around, sometimes the biggest barrier isn’t who you are today — it’s what’s still showing on your record from yesterday. But Akron is stepping up in a major way to help people clear that hurdle.

On Wednesday, November 19th, from 11 AM to 3 PM, the Akron Urban League is partnering with Judge David Hamilton of the Akron Municipal Court to host a powerful, community-centered Expungement Day at:
Akron Urban League
440 Vernon Odom Blvd, Akron, OH
This event is focused on giving Akron residents the opportunity to get certain charges sealed or expunged, opening the door to new jobs, housing opportunities, education, financial stability, and a fresh start.
What to Expect at Expungement Day

This isn’t just a paperwork event — it’s a true community push to help people elevate their future.
Here’s what attendees can expect:
On-Site Expungements for Those Who Qualify
Judge Hamilton and his team will be present to review cases and assist eligible individuals through the expungement process on the spot.
(Registration is preferred — deadline: Nov. 12, 2025.)
Community Partners Offering Support
Local organizations will be on-site offering guidance, legal assistance, and resources to help people move forward.
For some qualifying attendees, fines and costs may even be waived.
A Safe, Supportive Space
Events like this are designed specifically for people who may not know where to start. You can get clarity, help, and guidance without judgment.
Direct Access to Help
You’ll be able to talk to legal defenders, community advocates, and court representatives who genuinely want to see you win.
Why Events Like This Matter
A criminal record — even for a minor offense — can block someone from:
- Better-paying jobs
- Housing opportunities
- College or trade school admissions
- Licensing and certifications
- Government programs
- Financial stability
- A true second chance
For many people, expungement is life-changing. It’s the difference between surviving and truly thriving.

In a city like Akron — where so many residents are working hard to rebuild, grow, and break generational cycles — Expungement Day is more than an event. It’s a lifeline.
Who Should Attend?
If you or someone you love has:
- A past charge
- A conviction that may be sealable
- Been turned away from jobs because of background checks
- Faced housing discrimination
- Struggled with starting over
…this event is for you.
It costs nothing to show up and see if you qualify.
