The city of Akron is mourning after a fatal shooting claims the life of beautiful daughter, sister, friend and active community member, 37-year-old Ericka Weems.
Ericka was found dead her in home (in the 900 block of Hardesty Ave.) on Monday around 3:00 PM after a welfare check, and her family is looking for answers. According to the police reports, she was shot multiple times, including a fatal shot to her head.
Ericka had a heart of gold and was a very active member in the community. She loved children and previously operated a daycare facility in Columbus, OH, but she recently moved back to Akron to be closer to her family and was running a daycare out of her home.
Police have not made any arrests, and the family doesn’t know who or why anybody would want to hurt Ericka in this manner. Ericka recently celebrated her 37th birthday 10/23 amongst some of her closest friends. Condolences to Ericka’s family and friends, as the city is truly mourning her loss.
