Akron Police Officer Makes A Questionable FaceBook Post About Minister Farrakhan

We all know that “freedom of speech” is the apart of the 1st Amendment in the constitution of the United States.

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution prevents the government from respecting an establishment of religion, prohibiting the free exercise of religion, or abridging the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the right to peaceably assemble, or to petition for a governmental redress of grievances.

Well, on October 30, 2018, an Akron Police Officer made a very offensive post about Minister Louis Farrakhan.  In the post, the officer wrote that he wondered why Farrakhan hasn’t been “offed” yet.  PAUSE… Yes an officer of the law is wondering why somebody hasn’t “offed” or killed, or assassinated Mr. Louis Farrakhan yet.

I’m really confused by this post!!  I am this is the same officer that took the oath that all police officers must take… you know?  To PROTECT & SERVE the community??

This is apart of the mission statement of the Akron Police Officers…

APD Values And Principles

Honesty And Integrity

We will model a high standard of honesty and integrity in our personal and professional lives.

Fairness

We will assure fair and impartial treatment of all individuals in the department and the community we serve.

Competence

Through continuous improvement, we will set a standard of excellence for delivery of law enforcement services in our community.

Trust

We will enhance trust, teamwork, and communication by cooperating with each other and the community.

Respect

We will treat everyone with dignity and respect and protect the constitutional rights of all citizens.

The officer’s name has not been released since he has not been charged with a crime as of yet.  & to be honest, I do think this was his opinion & he was within the rights of the 1st amendment…  BUT he also needs to be held to a higher standard.  How can somebody who made an oath to protect & serve honestly feel like this about anybody??  I do not think this is right & I also don’t think he should be allowed to be an active officer of the law.

What are your thoughts about this officer??
