Cuyahoga County Judge LITERALLY Had Man’s Mouth Taped Shut

Yesterday on July 31, 2018… an Ohio Judge had to go to a rather serious extreme in his courtroom yesterday in Cuyahoga county.  Judge John Russo got so fed up with a defendant in the courtroom during his sentencing  because he just would not stop talking, so the judge ordered police to tape his mouth shut!  Yes, you heard me right… DUCT TAPED that man’s mouth shut with a red piece of duct tape.

The defendant Franklyn Williams, 32 years old was charged with robbery.  He previously plead guilty of the crime but he was granted another trial on a technicality.  He demanded that he get another trial because his lawyer did not explain thoroughly what he was pleading guilty to.  So during the second trial it was reported that he cut his homer monitoring bracelet off his ankle and ran to Nebraska before he was caught again.

If you guys take a look at the clip below, you can see the moments before the Judge ordered for Williams mouth to be taped shut.  They were basically arguing in the courtroom.  Judge Russo kept trying to get Williams to SHUT HIS DAMN MOUTH, but Williams would just not shut up.  I can’t say that I blame the man because at the end of the day… his life is on the line.

Franklyn Williams was sentenced to 24 years in prison!  24 YEARS!!!  I’m sure the way he acted in the courtroom did not help at all with that sentence… it actually probably added to it.  The Judge even told Fox 8 news that the reason he had to have Willams gagged was because the court reporter was not able to keep up with the back to back between the two.

“Everybody has the right to go on the record with my court reporter.  But we can’t do it at the same time or yelling over each other.  My intent was never to silence Mr. Williams,” Judge Russo told the news. “I gave him an opportunity to speak at the appropriate time.  More than not, he continued to speak over me and others in the courtroom.”  He told the station is was legal for a deputy to gag a defendant.

Do you guys think this Judge took it too far??
