Cyntoia Brown walks free after serving 15 years of a life sentence for killing man who bought her for sex when she was 16 following clemency grant by Tennessee governor.
Cyntoia Brown was released Wednesday morning and walked out a FREE woman. If you kept up with Browns story.
Brown was a victim of sex trafficking when she killed Jimmy Allen during an exchange at his home while in bed.
Pleading self-defense as the reason for killling Allen, she was still given a sentence which would require her to complete 51 years before being eligible for release.
Well multiple different organizations came together and fought for her release. People felt as though she shouldn’t have to do time for killing the man who kidnap her and forced her into sex trafficking. Celebrities such as Rihanna and Kim Kardashian spoke out on her case as well.
Well after serving 15 years or that life sentence Ms. Brown is a free woman! Brown released a statement “While first giving honor to God who made all of this possible, I would also like to thank my many supporters who have spoken on my behalf and prayed for me. I’m blessed to have a very supportive family and friends to support me in the days to come. I look forward to using my experiences to help other women and girls suffering abuse and exploitation. I thank Governor and First Lady Haslam for their vote of confidence in me and with the Lord’s help I will make them as well as the rest of my supporters proud. “
Once released Brown will have some regulations to follow. She will need employment, go to therapy as well as community service. Best wishes to Ms.Brown on her new journey, I pray she has multiple opportunities and help other young women and women who have been in such harsh situations.
