National News – The United States Stock Market trading was temporarily closed (for 15 minutes) after a 7% (1,884 points following the opening bell) fall triggered a circuit breaker. If it falls below 13%, it will trigger another intermittent closure of 15 minutes, and if it falls below 20%, it will close for the remainder of the day!
The last time circuit breakers kicked in on the U.S. stock market was November 8th, 2016, the night Donald Trump won the presidential election. In that instance, buyers swept in at the open and pushed the market higher.
The fear of the coronavirus spreading are the main reasons for the stock market taking a serious plunge! Bond yields have collapsed, oil prices have crashed and central banks are clueless.
