Gabrielle Union-Wade “Don’t be that happy negro”

Gabrille Union-Wade is an amazing actress , activist and author. On Dec 17th in New York  she spoke on a panel about women empowerment as well as women of color in the work place. She is encouraging other women to not settle or allow others to treat them differently or unfairly in the work place. I feel her tho because many black women get it harder than any other race & it’s sad that racism still exists. I feel like as a women of color we are always sterotyped.

“Don’t be the happy negro that does the bidding of the status quo because you’re afraid. Don’t allow them to call you angry when someone else is called passionate. It’s terrifying,” said Gabrielle on the subject of unjust workplace politics. “Do your best because corporations want global dollars. Do your best to try to hold the door open and hold people responsible. Yeah, I’m asking you to do the impossible. … I’m fully aware that job loss is on the table … but if you’re not doing it, nobody is.” Recently she got fired from the show “America’s Got Talent” The shows producer Simon Cowell’s racist microaggressions from some of the show workers, contestants, & dictation of Gabrielle’s choice of hairstyles would “confuse” viewers and this did lead to her being fired. According to sources this situation did make the news , also Gabrielle had a positive productive meeting with NBC executives to prevent any situation like hers. Women we have to start standing up for ourself at the end of the day right is right & wrong is wrong don’t settle ! I was always told to treat people how I wanted to be treated and that’s exactly what I do. GO Gabrielle cause honey God don’t bless no mess.
