Tuesday morning authorities were alerted that a 19 year old senior student had brought a loaded gun to North High school. The incident occurred earlier yesterday morning. No shoots were fired and no one was harmed.
According to reports the student was found in an restricted area in an empty classroom. Spokesmen Mark Williamson stated “As soon as they opened the door, they were confronted by this individual [with the weapon] and he dropped it,” district spokesman Mark Williamson said, adding that the student did not fire the gun.
Akron police spokesman Capt. David Laughlin said student Tiqcwon Brent was charged with three gun-related felonies. He was transported to Summit County Jail and is expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning.
Another student who has not been identified will also face charges due to having knowledge of Tiqcwon having a loaded gun. Thankfully no one was hurt! It’s unaware if the gun was plan to be used in an attack on other students or protection.
Unfortunately in Akron public schools there are 2,000 students out of 20,000 students will are homeless during the school year. Mental Detectors are in the school but not always used, after this incident Mr. Williamson says that’ll change. We’ll keep you updated with more information as the story unfolds.
