LeBron James Acquires NHL’s Pittsburg Penguins In $900M FSG Deal

NBA superstar, LeBron James of Akron, OH, has expanded his portfolio and is the new co-owner of the National Hockey League’s Pittsburg Penguins.

Earlier this year, LeBron and his business partner Maverick Carter secured ownership stakes and became partners of Fenway Sports Group (FSG), owners of Red Sox, Liverpool Football Club, Roush Fenway Racing and many more. Joining FSG made James and Carter their first two black partners.

FSG is waiting for the approval from the Board of Governors of the NHL regarding the $900 million purchase of the Pittsburg Penguins. They anticipate closing the deal by the end of this year.

The Pittsburg Penguins are valued at $845 million, as they rank 15th in the NHL. As LeBron expands his portfolio, he wishes to one day own an NBA team. As for right now, he is pleased with makin ground-breaking history and also setting a good example and being inspiration for his I Promise School kids.
