Michigan teen stabbed during school fight reports say it was over a boy

I am sad to announce that a teenage girl has passed away  following a school fight.

The girl has been identified as 16 year old Dayonna Gibson. Reports say she was stabbed twice in the chest by another teenage girl during a fight that was over a boy at a suburban teenage Detroit high school.

William Dywer from the Warren Police Commissioner states the fight was between two “straight A students” in a Fitzgerald High School classroom early Wednesday morning. Dayonna was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead about an hour later.

According to AP, Dywer did confirm that the girls knew each other and had no history of trouble, according to Dwyer. He suggested the fight was over a male student who he says is cooperating with the investigation. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene, and authorities will seek a murder charge for her, according to Dwyer.
