Mother Is Charged For Her 1 Year Old’s Death In Hurricane
I’m not sure if you guys remember this story about this precious little guy (Kaiden Lee, 1) who recently died in Hurricane Florence in Charlotte, NC. But according to the reports, the mother (Dazia Ideah Lee, 20) drove around highway barricades during the hurricane until she couldn’t drive anymore. Her car was rushed with the rain and hurricane waters and took her car off the road & was finally stopped by some trees.
Once the car stopped, Dazia was able to get herself and her baby out of the car, but the waters were too strong and she lost the grip of her young baby. Once the baby was recovered, he had already passed away. This story is so sad & I am honestly torn about how I feel about it.
Dazia Lee is now facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and also a misdemeanor charge for driving on a closed/unopened highway. Sherriff Eddie Cathey said “The tragic death of this child and the circumstances surrounding this case are heartbreaking. However, after a very thorough investigation and taking all facts into consideration & applying the law, we feel that these charges are appropriate.”
I honestly don’t think Dazia Lee had any intentions of her baby being hurt and especially not dying. I think she was just trying to get her baby to a place she felt would be safe for the both of them. HOWEVER, you can’t just totally neglect what the experts and city officials are telling you in regards to a national disaster. I feel so bad for this mother and I pray she is comforted in her time of need. I can’t imagine grieving the death of my child, then being charged with their death. That must be hard… but we also have to learn to follow the laws.
Rest In Peace you precious baby! Dazia Lee is expected to appear in court on November 20, 2018.
