In recent news from The Shade Room, it looks like Papa Johns has decided to end their sponsorship with the NFL. It is reported that Papa Johns will focus on its partnership with individual teams, according to CNN Money.
Papa Johns has been the official sponsor of the NFL since 2010. Last fall, they blamed he NFL’s response to player protests for slumping sales.
The company will continue to invest in the NFL through its local-market deals with 22 teams. The company will no longer have presence at the league’s big events, including the draft and the Super Bowl, instead we will now see Pizza Hut.
The deal came one day after Papa Johns announced they were ending is partnership with the league.
“We are thrilled to have Pizza Hut, an industry leader and one of America’s favorite brands, as an official league sponsor,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement.
The sponsorship will roll out with the upcoming NFL Draft in April.
