Only 2-Years For The Rat, Tekashi 6ix9ine
DAMN… it’s a cold world! As most of you know, Tekashi 6ix9ine (ex “gang’ member) rolled over on several of his gang members/friends so he could lessen his own sentence. Well it looks like it worked!
6ix9ine has been in jail for about 13 months now, and the judge sentenced him to 2 years in prison (so it’s not clear if he will get an additional two years or if he will be credited for the time he has already served). Once he gets out, he’ll be on supervised release for 5 years and will have to complete 300 hours of community service and pay a $35k fine.
Before sentencing 6ix9ine, Judge Engelmayer ran down very specific examples as to why Tekashi should serve more than just the 13 months of time served his team had been pushing for. The judge said even though Tekashi cooperated in tremendous fashion, “one way or another, the full range of your conduct would have come to light.”
However, I cannot agree with your counsel that time served it appropriate. In my judgment, your conduct is too violent and selfish to make 13 months reasonable. You will not be going free today. ~ Judge Engelmayer
