Akron, OH – The Summit County Bomb Squad was called to the Firestone Park area on Wednesday of this week, after a pipe bomb was discovered. The Akron Fire Department said the bomb was found on the 1300 block of Kelly Avenue by a groundskeeper who was mowing grass. It was just sitting on top of a metal grate, by the street.
Roads leading to the area were blocked off, and ate pipe bomb was safely detonated. Thankfully, there were no injuries. The police are looking into the situation to see where the bomb came from.
No other information is available, but it is very scary to know people are just leaving bombs in residential areas. Always keep your eyes open, and if you come across something that looks like bomb, contact the police immediately.
