This was another situation I saw on Face Book & I actually shared the video to my Ear Kandy Radio page. Looks like a woman (Corinne Terrone ) who was spitting racial slurs had to quit her job as a Hamden Public School employee, because the video went viral.
There was a situation that happened inside of a store between two people… Now I am not sure exactly what transpired prior to the video being recorded, but take a look at the initial video that went viral.
The video has over 3 million views & has been shared countless times, so I take it she may be feeling a little embarrassed by her actions. A detective working the case (Lt. Joseph Murgo) released a statement, saying East Haven Police “is aware of this disturbing video and the hate speech contained in it” but that no complaint has been filed. If there is a complaint filed (because she spit at them) it will be considered an assault. He said the department was coordinating with Shop Rite to understand what happened at the store. They are asking anybody with information to come forward.
Hamden Public Schools (where she worked) said that since Terrone’s children were present during the incident, a Department of Children and Families report was filed. “The language the employee used in the video is in conflict with the values of the Hamden Public School System,” the district’s statement said. “Someone who will use that sort of language in any setting, whether public or private, is not someone we want anywhere near our children. The employee is separated from service, and we hope that her children will receive the support they need after witnessing such a traumatic event.”
In a joint statement, Mayor Curt Leng and Council President Michael McGarry condemned Terrone’s actions. “What I saw was vile and shocking. While I am disgusted and disheartened seeing such hateful behavior, wildly unacceptable anywhere, I am thankful for the swift and effective actions taken by our school system to address this head on and make clear that hate and violence will not be tolerated,” Leng said.
I’m really happy the school is standing up for what is right in this situation. Like they said, anybody who uses this type of language (especially in the manner she was using it) is a danger to have around kids. Racism is definitely a learned behavior. I really feel bad for her kids.
People, don’t go spitting racial slurs in public… you may just end up going viral!
