Rihanna launched her clothing line with French company LVMH, and after less than two years, the company announced “Fenty Fashion House” has been suspended indefinitely.
The label is also home to other high-end fashion houses like Dior, Louis Vuitton and others, but the Fenty Fashion House is the only store announcing a closing at this time.
The Fenty news comes right after a successful $115 million fundraising round for Savage X Fenty’s expansion into retail. L Catterton, a private equity firm backed by LVMH, announced the funding in a press release today.
Rihanna was the first Black woman to head an original brand with LVMH when Fenty Fashion House launched in 2019, although it was not the star’s first clothing venture. In 2014, she became the creative director of Puma.
Savage X Fenty has been praised for its body-positivity and inclusive practices. The lingerie line offers underwear for a wide range of skin tones and body types.
The label did not disclose any other details regarding the reason the fashion line is being suspended, but this is definitely not the end of the road for our girl RiRi! I can’t wait to see what she pops out with next.
