This year was truly a Thanksgiving to write home about. Different organizations teamed up with rappers, football players & even the police department to come together and feed over 250 families in the Akron community!
The Good Samaritan Hunger Center partnered with the S.L.A.P.P. Ministry for their 1st collaborative effort, and also brought in the Akron Police Department, Sheriff’s Department, Akron’s own… legendary rapper Ampichino, Jaz Hunt (Fun World) & special guest Terrance Mitchell (of the Cleveland Browns) to make sure over 250 people had a good holiday.
When I arrived, I initially thought they would only be giving out turkeys but boy was I wrong! They were giving away the turkeys PLUS all the fixings & also had volunteers to help people take all the food to their cars. They had corn, yams, beans, fresh fruit & fresh vegetables, milk (5 gallons per person), water, bread, desserts and much more.
There was one point where we caught Ampichino on video saying he didn’t even go Thanksgiving shopping for his own house yet, but he was out feeding families in the community. What an act of selflessness.
Ear Kandy Radio just wanted to take a minute to highlight some of the people out here making a difference in the community! You guys are truly appreciated.
