Understanding “Government”

I honestly feel like we as American citizens relinquish increasing amounts of control over our lives to the Federal government.  Everything that the government does is to gain more control and power over you.  Government leaders will do or say anything necessary for citizens to submit to their schemes and plans.  If the original basis for government was to protect and serve, why do they have the desire to watch us, track us, and control us?  Why is every aspect of our lives being controlled by government?  If the Founding Fathers original concept of government was “limited”, then who are the real law breaking criminals??

How can we believe that this is “the land of the free”, if we know that the government controls the school systems, the financial systems, the housing market, the labor market, the justice system, the healthcare market, the media market and the food market?

Is is safe to say that the true definition of the word government is to control the mind????
